Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 3 Delayed for Thorough Testing

The eagerly anticipated third major patch for Baldur's Gate 3 will not be arriving today as previously expected. Developer Larian Studios has confirmed that the patch will instead be deployed tomorrow. This delay is to ensure thorough testing and to address any potential issues before the patch is released to the public.

Patch 3 for Baldur's Gate 3 was announced earlier this month and is set to bring numerous fixes and improvements to the game. In addition, it will introduce full Mac support. Larian Studios took to Twitter to announce the delay, stating, “Patch 3 is coming, and it’s a big one. To ensure thorough testing, we’re releasing Patch 3 this Friday, September 22 instead.”

While delays can be disappointing for players, it is important to prioritize proper testing to deliver a stable and enjoyable gaming experience. Larian Studios understands the importance of this and is taking the necessary steps to ensure that Patch 3 is free from any major issues.

This delay follows a previous hotfix rollout that had to be rolled back due to game crashes. Larian Studios reverted the game to the previous hotfix, causing problems for players who had saved their game under the new hotfix. This incident highlights the need for comprehensive testing before releasing patches and updates.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available digitally for PC and PlayStation 5. It will also be released on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S later this year, although split-screen support will not be available on the Series S initially. Larian Studios has committed to working on bringing split-screen functionality to Microsoft's entry-level console.
