Can You Still Merge Fortnite Accounts in 2023?

No, unfortunately account merging is no longer possible in Fortnite as of May 2019. There is currently no way to combine items, skins, and progress across two separate Epic Games accounts.

I know how frustrating this can be, especially if you‘ve invested time and money into two accounts! As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I‘ll explain exactly why merging was removed, alternatives, and what can happen if you try unsupported workarounds.

Why Did Epic Games Remove Account Merging?

Epic allowed account merging for a limited time in 2019 to help players consolidate their progress across platforms as Fortnite introduced cross-platform play.

However, some players abused this by:

  • Selling rare or OG Fortnite accounts for profit
  • Stealing accounts to merge valuable skins with their main account

This violated Epic‘s Terms of Service. According to statistics from account tracking sites, over $250,000 worth of rare Fortnite accounts were sold during the merging period.

To protect players, Epic decided to permanently disable account merging. Trust me, I wish it was still around too! But Epic prioritized account security and integrity over convenience.

Is There Any Way To Transfer Items Between Two Accounts?

With no official account merging, the only way to consolidate cosmetics and V-Bucks is to link all of your gaming platform accounts like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile to your primary Epic Games account.

This allows your skins, emotes, and V-Bucks to be accessible across all linked accounts. But you are limited to one primary account.

Here‘s a quick guide to linking your other gaming accounts:

1. Go to and log into your primary Epic account

2. Under "Connections", click "Connect" next to the platform like Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, etc.

3. Sign into your platform account and click "Link Account"

4. Your cosmetics and V-Bucks will now be shared across accounts!

Note that gifted items will be shared, but purchased V-Bucks stay on the account they were redeemed on. Also, Save the World progress is still separate.

Can You Merge or Transfer Items on PS4, Xbox, PC, and Mobile?

Direct merging or transfers between two Epic accounts is completely impossible unfortunately. This applies to all platforms – PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile.

Epic Accounts are permanently locked to each other. The one exception is you can unlink a console account from an Epic Account once per year. But progress does not carry over.

Will Epic Games Ever Bring Back Account Merging?

Based on public statements from Epic, there are no plans to reintroduce official account merging.

It could technically happen, but is very unlikely given the past issues. Epic seems committed to keeping accounts separate for security reasons.

We‘ll have to hope they add alternative account portability options, but for now merging remains unavailable in 2023 and the upcoming years.

What About Transferring Skins and Items Between Accounts?

The only way to transfer cosmetics directly between two accounts is through gifting. But there are severe limitations:

  • Only 3 gifts per day
  • Only skins/emotes under 1,000 V-Bucks can be gifted

So gifting all your desired skins to a second account would take months or years! Again, linking your secondary accounts to your Epic account is the best way to consolidate items.

Can You Transfer V-Bucks Between Two Accounts?

There is no direct way to transfer V-Bucks between accounts, unfortunately. Purchased V-Bucks remain on the account they were redeemed on.

The only option is having both accounts linked to the same Epic account. This lets you access your full V-Bucks balance across linked accounts.

But gifting V-Bucks between accounts is possible:

  • Minimum gift amount is 1,000 V-Bucks
  • Limited to 5 gifts per day
  • Gifted V-Bucks show on recipient account

So while time consuming, you can slowly gift V-Bucks between accounts.

What Happens If You Try To Merge Accounts Through Unofficial Methods?

I totally understand the temptation to seek out unofficial account merging methods, but this breaks Epic‘s rules and can get your accounts banned or penalized.

Known risks include:

  • Permanent bans from online play
  • Removal of items/skins from accounts
  • Being unable to link your Epic account in the future

Banned accounts cannot be recovered or unbanned. You would lose everything permanently. It‘s not worth the risk!

Can You Safely Link Multiple Epic Accounts To One Console?

Each gaming console can only have one Epic Games account connected to it at a time.

Creating multiple user profiles on a single console and linking separate Epic accounts to each profile is considered account sharing by Epic and grounds for banning.

However, you can safely link your console to the same Epic account as your PC and mobile. Cross-progression between multiple consoles on the same Epic account is perfectly fine.

In Summary

  • Account merging is permanently unavailable as of 2019
  • Linking all gaming accounts to your primary Epic account consolidates items
  • Direct account transfers or unofficial merges can lead to bans
  • Gifting is the only way to slowly transfer some items between accounts

I know how inconvenient the removal of merging is, but I hope breaking down the specifics helps you understand the situation fully. We‘ll have to hope Epic introduces safe account portability methods in the future! Let me know if you have any other questions.
