Dark and Darker Experiences DDoS Attack After Latest Update

Dark and Darker, one of this year’s most surprising and enjoyable RPG game releases, has encountered an unexpected obstacle. After dropping its debut game to the delight of eager fans, Ironmace Games has been diligently releasing regular updates for Dark and Darker. However, following the latest update, the game fell victim to a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

Ironmace Games took to Twitter to explain the situation, stating that they were “experiencing a concerted DDoS attack.” They further elaborated that due to this attack, their response would require additional tuning. Consequently, the servers have been offline since the update, as Ironmace was initially faced with longer-than-expected deployment times for DDoS protection.

Later on, Ironmace provided an update on Twitter, informing players that the maintenance would take longer than anticipated due to the DDoS attack. The update was intended as a simple bug fix patch, addressing issues with stealth, server performance, and the Ironshield logic – Dark and Darker's anti-cheat system.

What sets this particular DDoS attack apart is its magnitude, as Ironmace revealed that it exceeded 600 Gbps. Understandably, the servers remain offline as the developer works diligently to resolve the security breach.

While waiting for the game to be back up and running, players can explore the various Dark and Darker classes in our in-depth guide. Alternatively, for a change of pace, they can also explore some other favorite fantasy games.
