Dell G16 (2023) Review: An Affordable Gaming Laptop with Impressive Specs

The Dell G16 (2023) is a budget-friendly gaming laptop that aims to provide gamers with a powerful and immersive gaming experience. Priced at Rs 1,61,990, the G16 offers high-end specs at a relatively affordable price point.

Design-wise, the Dell G16 7630 features a sleek and stylish build, available in two color options: Metallic Nightshade and Quantum White. The Metallic Nightshade variant, in particular, looks stunning. Despite its compact appearance, the laptop is quite heavy, weighing almost 3 kg.

The G16 offers a range of ports for connectivity, including USB Type A and C ports, an Ethernet port, and a 3mm jack. The keyboard deck features an RGB-lit keyboard that can be controlled via the Alienware Command Center. However, the keyboard feels somewhat fragile, so caution is advised while gaming. The laptop also features a 16-inch QHD display with slim bezels, providing an immersive gaming experience.

Performance-wise, the G16 is equipped with an Intel Core i7-13650HX processor and Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card. It excels in tasks such as gaming, work, streaming OTT content, and occasional video editing. However, the laptop's speakers leave something to be desired in terms of bass and clarity. It also lacks Windows Hello IR facial recognition or fingerprint recognition.

In benchmark tests, the G16 performed well, scoring 1779 in the Cinebench Single core CPU test and 12568 in the Multi core CPU test. In the Superposition benchmark tests, it scored 9156 at 1080p high graphics settings and 5240 at 4K optimized settings.

Overall, the Dell G16 (2023) offers impressive specs and performance at a more affordable price compared to its Alienware counterpart. While it may have some minor drawbacks, such as average speakers and a lack of biometric recognition, it provides an excellent gaming experience for those on a budget.
