Ed Sheeran to Perform Virtually in Fortnite in Special Immersive Experience

Ed Sheeran, one of the biggest stars in the streaming era, will be making his virtual debut in the popular game Fortnite on October 5th. Through a partnership with iHeartMedia, Sheeran's performance will be featured in a special immersive experience called “A Special Ed Sheeran Immersive Experience.” The event will take place on iHeartLand island within Fortnite and will be available for a limited time from October 5th to October 9th.

This unique collaboration is the first third-party music experience created using Epic Games' Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) tools. The environments in the experience will be based on Sheeran's featured songs, and fans will have the opportunity to find hidden Easter eggs within the virtual world. The music will be live performances recorded by Sheeran specifically for iHeartRadio.

State Farm, the charter naming rights partner for iHeartLand, is also involved in the event. This partnership highlights the growing trend of brands tapping into the virtual world to reach new audiences.

Fortnite has been making waves in the music industry since the launch of UEFN earlier this year. The game's economy allocates 40% of its revenues to creators of islands and maps based on their popularity and engagement. Epic Games has reported that numerous creators are on track to receive substantial annual payouts, with some set to earn over $1 million.

With Ed Sheeran's involvement in the iHeartMedia partnership, it will be exciting to see if this collaboration helps propel the company into one of the top earning categories within Fortnite's creator economy.
