Enhanced Anti-Piracy Measure Denuvo Now Available for Nintendo Switch Developers

Denuvo by Irdeto, an anti-piracy tool notorious among gamers, is now accessible for third-party Nintendo Switch developers. This means that games equipped with Denuvo technology cannot be played on PC through emulation, which allows gamers to experience titles with higher specifications, such as improved frame rates and resolution.

Denuvo's reputation has suffered due to occasional negative impacts on game performance. For instance, Katsuhiro Harada, the acclaimed producer of the Tekken series, blamed Denuvo for the poor performance of the PC port of Tekken 7. To reassure Tekken fans, Harada took to social media confirming that Denuvo will not be present in Tekken 8, expected to be released next year.

The addition of Denuvo by Irdeto to the Nintendo Developer Portal allows developers to access Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection, a revolutionary technology shielding games from piracy when released on the Nintendo Switch platform. It effectively prevents unauthorized emulations on PC, ensuring that players must purchase legitimate copies of games.

Doug Lowther, CEO of Irdeto, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Nintendo, saying, “As gamers, we know first-hand how piracy negatively affects the gaming industry. We’re thrilled to be part of the Nintendo Developers Portal, so that we can provide the latest technologies to help fight this issue for Nintendo Switch players and developers. Our solution is a must-have for publishers to monetize games fairly on this platform without impacting PC game sales.”
