How much does the full game of Warzone cost?

The full Call of Duty: Warzone game is completely free to download and play on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. There are no upfront costs or purchases required!

A Closer Look at Warzone‘s Free-to-Play Model

As a passionate tech geek and avid gamer, I‘ve done extensive research into Warzone‘s pricing and business model. Here‘s what I‘ve learned:

Warzone is a free-to-play Battle Royale shooter, which means the core game experience is 100% free. You don‘t have to pay anything to download, install and play Warzone with full access to weapons, operators, game modes and progression systems.

This free-to-play model is fantastic for players like us because we can jump in and enjoy an AAA shooter experience without spending a dime. It‘s all about maximizing the player base and community.

Of course, Warzone does offer optional in-game purchases for cosmetic items like operator skins, blueprints, emblems etc. However, these are completely optional. You can unlock plenty of cool cosmetics just by playing the game.

In my experience, dropping $10-20 on the Battle Pass has been worthwhile to get some sick blueprints and skins. But again, these don‘t impact gameplay or provide any competitive advantage.

Warzone‘s Free Game Modes

Warzone includes two main free game modes:

  • Battle Royale – The core 150 player mode where you fight to be the last team standing.
  • Plunder – Race to deposit the most in-match Cash within the time limit.

Both modes are completely free and fully playable without spending any money.

Progression Systems

A major draw of Warzone is leveling up your profile, weapons and Battle Pass through XP-based progression systems. You can unlock the following for free just by playing:

  • Profile levels – 1000 in total
  • Weapon levels – Reach max level for all guns
  • Battle Pass – Free stream includes 100 tiers of content
  • Operator challenges
  • Camo challenges
  • Reticle unlocks
  • Watch unlocks
  • Calling card and emblem unlocks

You can sink dozens if not hundreds of hours into Warzone unlocking new gear and leveling up – all without spending a cent.

Warzone 2.0 Will Also Be Free-to-Play

Excitingly, the upcoming Warzone 2.0 will follow the same free-to-play model when it launches later this year. Activision has confirmed Warzone 2.0 will be free for all players across console and PC.

We can expect a brand new map, updated mechanics, fresher progression systems and new modes – all available free upon release. I can‘t wait!

Of course, Warzone 2.0 will likely offer the same optional Battle Pass and in-game store for cosmetics. But again, these are totally optional purchases that have no impact on combat or competitiveness.

Minimum and Recommended PC Specs

One of the great things about Warzone is the relatively low barrier to entry. You don‘t need a $2000 gaming rig to enjoy it.

Here are the minimum and recommended PC specs based on my research:

Minimum Specs

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4340 / AMD FX-6300
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB / AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • RAM: 8GB
  • HDD: 175GB

This entry-level setup will let you play Warzone at around 45-60 FPS on low settings. Very playable experience!

Recommended Specs

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • RAM: 16GB
  • HDD: 175GB SSD

This mid-range setup will deliver a smooth 60-100+ FPS experience on high settings. Consider overclocking your CPU and GPU if possible too.

The most demanding component is the graphics card. I‘d recommend at least a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB to maintain 60 FPS.

Of course, you can beef up components like the CPU and RAM to maximize performance. But the GPU does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to frames per second.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I‘m always happy to provide tech advice to fellow gamers.
