Immersed Opens Pre-Orders for Slim and Light VR Headset, Visor

Immersed, the team behind the XR productivity and co-working app, has recently announced its latest creation, Visor, a VR headset designed specifically for work purposes. The studio is now opening pre-orders for two versions of the headset.

The Visor is available in two models: a 2.5K per-eye version priced at $500, and a 4K per-eye version priced at $750. While the resolution of the OLED microdisplays differs between the two models, they share the same functionality. Additionally, Immersed is offering a Founder's Edition Visor 4K for $1,000, which is expected to ship six months prior to the standard Visor 4K.

Both the 2.5K and 4K headsets come with hand and eye tracking, 6 degrees of freedom, 5+ screens, a 100° field of view, ultra widescreen capability, custom IPD, nose-insert, and light-blocker. They are also 25% lighter than a smartphone and include HD color passthrough, stems, and strap attachments.

The Visor is designed to be both wired and wireless, indicating it has onboard processing for mobile VR experiences and a battery. However, specific details regarding the chipset and battery life have not yet been released by the company.

Immersed ensures that each Visor headset is custom-built for the individual user. This includes tailoring the interpupillary distance (IPD) for each user and providing nose inserts and light blockers that best fit the user's facial shape.

Regarding shipment dates, Immersed plans to begin shipping Visor headsets in 2024. The company emphasizes that pre-orders are fully refundable reservations, and customers can cancel their reservation anytime before the Visor is produced.
