Meta Announces In-Person XR Developer Conference, Connect, to Take Place in September

Meta has announced that its annual XR developer conference, Connect, will have an “in-person presence” this year, marking the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Connect is scheduled for September 27th and 28th at Meta's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. This is a departure from previous years when the event was held at off-site venues.

The in-person experience at Connect will be limited, with attendees gaining access to demo experiences, networking events, and more. Meta has promised in-depth looks at new products, including the upcoming Quest 3, as well as updates on AI and XR innovation. The conference will also explore the concept of the metaverse.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed. The livestream will feature a keynote by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the Developer State of the Union, and breakout sessions covering various topics related to AI and virtual, mixed, and augmented reality.

The Quest 3, set to be released in late 2023, represents Meta's next big consumer offering. The company aims to follow up on the success of the Quest Pro headset, which was released last year at a higher price point and later reduced to $1,000. The Quest 3, like its predecessors and competitors, is a mixed reality headset with color passthrough and augmented reality capabilities.

Meta plans to provide more details on specific developer talks soon. In the meantime, interested individuals can keep an eye on the Connect website for further information.
