Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater — A Remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 on Current-Gen Consoles and PC

The rumors were true when Konami announced Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a complete remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This recreation of Hideo Kojima's work aims to satisfy Metal Gear Solid fans who have become accustomed to the impressive visuals of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Unlike a simple remaster, Metal Gear Solid Delta is a revitalization of the game, adapted to fit a modern aesthetic. While the story of Punished Snake unfolded on the PS4 and Xbox One, Konami has confirmed that the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be exclusive to current-gen consoles (excluding the Nintendo Switch) and PC. This means that it will not be released on the PS4 and Xbox One.

By focusing on the current hardware, Konami hopes to deliver an experience that is visually impressive. However, it remains a mystery how the hardware advancements will enhance the gameplay. Concerns have been raised following the PlayStation Showcase reveal, leaving some fans nervous about the changes that may occur.

Set 29 years before the events of Metal Gear, Snake Eater introduces Naked Snake, also known as Big Boss. The game features the intricate narrative that the Metal Gear Solid series is known for, with engaging plot twists and memorable character introductions.

Mechanically, Snake Eater differs from its predecessors by offering more open landscapes and a wider range of stealth options. Camouflage plays a significant role, allowing Snake to blend in with his surroundings. The healing mechanic, which replaces traditional rations with food found in the environment, is likely to make a return. Additionally, expect to encounter body part-specific injuries.

Fans of the series may be wondering if the remake will bring any changes to the original game. Unfortunately, Metal Gear Solid Delta stays faithful to the source material, even reusing the original voice lines without any alterations.

While the visually recreated Metal Gear Solid 3 on modern hardware will undoubtedly appeal to many fans, some may desire a more substantial experience. The remake is expected to enhance mechanics and update controls to align with The Phantom Pain. Metal Gear Solid Delta is scheduled for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S.
