A recent rating by the German entertainment regulation body suggests that Minecraft may finally be getting a current-generation upgrade for the Xbox Series X|S. The rating, published on the USK website, gives the game a USK 6 rating, which is the same as its rating on other platforms. However, it specifically labels it as the “Xbox Series” version of the game.
This news has sparked speculation that the new version of Minecraft could include ray-tracing features, which were accidentally included in a preview build of the game last year. Xbox console players have been eagerly awaiting an update that would bring new visual features since the cancellation of the Super Duper Graphics Pack targeted for the Xbox One X.
With Xbox's big presence at Gamescom this year, it would be the perfect opportunity for Microsoft to reveal the current-gen upgrade for Minecraft. However, there has been no sign of a matching PS5 rating, which could give Xbox a competitive edge in terms of Game Pass offerings.
Gamescom attendees will have the chance to play 25 games at Xbox's booth, including highly anticipated titles like Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Payday 3, Persona 5 Tactica, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. Additionally, viewers can tune in to Gamescom's Opening Night Live for any big announcements or new trailers.
