Mister Donut Announces Collaboration with Pokémon, Including Psyduck Donut

Mister Donut, Japan's popular donut chain, has announced its annual collaboration with the Pokémon franchise. This year, in addition to the beloved Pikachu donuts, Mister Donut will introduce a Psyduck donut to its limited-time menu.

Pikachu, Eevee, and Jigglypuff have been previously featured as Pokémon-themed donuts in 2018, 2021, and 2022, respectively. Psyduck, a Water-type Pokémon from the first generation, may seem like an unexpected choice, but its increased exposure in recent months has garnered attention. Psyduck was prominently featured in art displays for the Pokémon World Championships in Yokohama and on newly installed Pokémon manhole covers in the city.

The teaser trailer for Netflix's upcoming Pokémon Concierge stop-motion animation series also showcases Psyduck, suggesting that it will play a significant role as a faithful companion to the story's human resort concierge.

Details about the design and flavor of the Psyduck donut have not yet been revealed by Mister Donut. Considering Psyduck's ability to release psychic blasts when stressed, a sharp and stimulating flavor could be expected. However, the theme for this year's collaboration is “zoning out and taking a short break,” which suggests a mellow and soothing taste to help consumers relax and prevent mental stress.

Mister Donut plans to release the Pokémon-themed donuts, including the Psyduck donut, in early November. This advance notice may indicate that the premiere of Pokémon Concierge will accompany the donut release. In the meantime, for those interested in making their own Psyduck-themed sweets, a Japanese cookie chef offers creative ideas.
