Modern Warfare 3 Carry Forward: Everything You Need to Know

Activision has confirmed that the weapon progression, operator skins, and weapon blueprints from Modern Warfare 2 will carry over to Modern Warfare 3. This is great news for players who were disappointed that purchased cosmetics didn't carry over from Warzone 1 to Warzone 2. While free-to-play users lost access to their microtransactions, they can still use their items in multiplayer.

However, some community members were skeptical and refrained from purchasing anything in MW2, fearing that they might lose their items again. Activision has reassured them by announcing that weapons, operators, and bundles will carry over to the next game.

In the Carry Forward system, Activision confirmed that MW3 will have its own set of weapons and content, but all MW2 operators, weapons, and more will be available to use in the game. This means that players will keep their leveled-up weapons and attachments, bundles, operator skins, battle pass items, and weapon blueprints.

Most importantly, weapon levels will be fully synced up between MW2 and MW3, so if a player goes back to MW2, the weapon level will be maintained in both games and in Warzone.

There are a few exceptions, however. If MW3 doesn't have a vehicle or item that players have a skin for, those won't carry over. Wartracks (music) and MW2 operators unlocked through challenges can only be accessed in MW2.

Camo enthusiasts will be pleased to know that they can use an MW2 weapon in MW3 to gain mastery, but camos can only be equipped on weapons from the respective games.

It's also worth mentioning that Double XP tokens will carry over, and for players who didn't unlock certain Battle Pass weapons in MW2, there will be direct path challenges in MW3 to unlock them.
