New York Knicks Fully Guarantee Jericho Sims’ 2023-24 Salary, with Additional Options for 2024-25

The New York Knicks have made the decision to fully guarantee Jericho Sims' $1.93 million salary for the 2023-24 NBA season. The 24-year-old center, who was selected 58th overall by the Knicks in the 2021 NBA Draft, also has a $2.1 million club option for the 2024-25 season. These salaries are part of the three-year, $5.66 million contract that Sims signed with the Knicks in July of last year.

During his rookie season in 2021-22, Sims made five starts in 41 appearances. He averaged 2.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 13.5 minutes per game. In the Knicks' regular-season finale win against the Toronto Raptors, Sims put up six points, a career-high 14 rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 40 minutes as a starter.

In the following season, Sims started 16 games in 52 games played. The Minnesota native posted career-high averages of 3.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 15.6 minutes per game, shooting 77.6% from the field and 75% at the free-throw line. He also had a standout performance in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, where he recorded a career-high 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

Sims' progress on the court has not gone unnoticed, as rival teams have attempted to acquire him and teammate Miles McBride in trade talks. However, the Knicks have rejected these offers, indicating their high regard for the two players.

The Knicks also face a decision regarding Quentin Grimes, who has a $4.29 million team option for the 2024-25 season. The team has until October 31 to exercise this option. Grimes, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, also has a $6.31 million qualifying offer for the 2025 season.

Currently, the Knicks have nine players signed to fully guaranteed contracts, including R.J. Barrett, Jalen Brunson, and Mitchell Robinson.

Looking ahead, the New York Knicks are ranked 14th in odds to win the championship for the upcoming 2024 season, according to certain NBA betting sites. Interested individuals can compare the odds for other teams such as the Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers on various sportsbooks.
