Nvidia Releases Update to Improve Starfield Performance on RTX 30- and 40-Series GPUs

Nvidia has announced an update that will enhance the performance of the highly anticipated game Starfield on RTX 30- and 40-series graphics cards. The update, delivered via an automatic over-the-air update, enables Resizable BAR and provides a boost in performance for Nvidia's latest GPUs.

According to Andrew Burnes, a technical marketer at Nvidia, the Resizable BAR profile for Starfield has been developed to increase performance on GeForce RTX 40 Series and GeForce RTX 30 Series desktop and laptop GPUs. In their testing scenario, GeForce RTX 40-series desktop GPUs witnessed an average performance increase of 5%.

This over-the-air update will be applied to both the existing 537.17 drivers and the new 537.34 drivers released by Nvidia. Additionally, the latest drivers include new one-click optimal settings for Starfield, simplifying the process of selecting settings based on the user's system. Nvidia has also rectified its GPU profile for the Microsoft Store version of Starfield.

This update from Nvidia comes in response to recent findings by Digital Foundry, which stated that Starfield provided a subpar experience on Nvidia and Intel hardware compared to AMD GPUs. The performance gap between AMD's Radeon RX 6800 XT and Nvidia's RTX 3080 in Starfield was a significant 46%. It remains to be seen whether this Resizable BAR profile update will help to bridge this gap.

The release of this update demonstrates Nvidia's commitment to optimizing its drivers for improved performance on the latest games. Nvidia users with RTX 30- and 40-series GPUs can look forward to enhanced performance in Starfield through this over-the-air update.
