Nvidia’s GeForce Now to Cease Operations in Russia

Nvidia has announced that its cloud-based game streaming service, GeForce Now, will cease operations in Russia on October 1, 2023. The decision follows the company's withdrawal from the Russian market in October 2022., which operates as a partner company, has been offering the service in Russia since October 2019. However, the team admits that it is unable to deliver the desired standards of service quality under current circumstances.

GeForce Now allows users to stream games from a cloud-based platform, and it provides the ability to link existing libraries from platforms such as Steam, Epic Games, and soon, Microsoft Game Pass. also operates in several other countries including Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Starting from September 1, 2023, will no longer accept new user registrations. Subscriptions for 30, 180, and 365 days will also no longer be available. The complete shutdown of the service will occur on October 1, 2023. Users who have active subscriptions beyond this date will receive automatic refunds, although they may need to allow up to two weeks for processing before contacting support.

While the official blog post does not provide a specific reason for the closure in Russia, speculation has arisen around a combination of political sanctions and the low popularity of cloud gaming services in the region. Nvidia had previously halted product sales in Russia in March 2022 and closed its Russian offices in October 2022.

Despite the discontinuation of GeForce Now in Russia, Nvidia's cloud gaming service will continue to be available in many other countries.
