PC Players Need to Upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC

According to a CD Projekt Red developer, PC players looking to fully experience the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 may need to upgrade their machines. The Lead Scene Programmer, Filip Pierściński, recently tweeted that the DLC will push players’ PCs to their limits and advised checking the conditions of their cooling systems before installation.

The Phantom Liberty DLC, set to be released on September 26 alongside Update 2.0, introduces new gameplay features and additional story content for players to explore. It has been highly anticipated since its reveal in September 2022.

The DLC takes players into a new district of Night City, featuring a spy-thriller storyline and the return of actor Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. It also introduces actor Idris Elba as FIA agent Solomon Reed. While it is the only full expansion planned for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has announced a sequel to the game as part of its future development lineup.

Pierściński’s tweet warns that the game will utilize 90% of CPU power even on 8-core systems. PC players are advised to run Cinebench or a similar program to check the stability of their systems before installation. This suggests that the Phantom Liberty DLC will require significant processing power to run smoothly.

With the launch of the Phantom Liberty DLC and the promise of future games and expansions in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, players can expect exciting new content and challenges as they explore this futuristic world.
