Pokémon Center Shibuya: A Dreamland for Fans

In the fourth chapter of the travelogue recounting a trip to Japan for the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, the author explores Pokémon Center Shibuya. The day begins with a visit to the buffet for a light breakfast before hopping on a bus to Shibuya. Arriving at Pokémon Center Shibuya, on the sixth floor of the Shibuya Parco shopping mall in Tokyo, the group is excited to discover new merchandise.

One of the highlights of the visit is the opportunity to design a personalized Pokémon shirt. The author selects a layout that allows for displaying a team of six Pokémon, with Psyduck as the final evolved form. After submitting the design, it takes an hour for the shirt to be printed and prepared for pickup.

As the author heads to the checkout line, a Pikachu hand fan catches their eye, a purchase that proves to be essential due to the hot weather. Afterward, a quick visit to the nearby Nintendo Store allows the author to greet the Hero of Time (Link) and exercise some self-control by not making any purchases.

For lunch, the group finds themselves in the basement of the shopping mall, where they enjoy mackerel with herbed breadcrumbs accompanied by a side of tangy-spicy sauce. After some downtime, they attend the Pokémon x NHK Symphony Special Orchestra, where they are treated to classic Pokémon music from previous World Championships.

The program features music from various Pokémon regions and culminates with an energetic performance of “Victory Lies Before You!” from Pokémon Black and White. The author is left feeling pumped up for the start of the World Championships the following day.

Exhausted from the busy day, the author returns to the hotel and falls asleep without having dinner or changing clothes. The next chapter promises coverage of the long-awaited start of the Pokémon World Championships.
