Pokemon GO’s Mega Evolutions Tier List for September 2023: Ranking the Best Megas

Pokemon GO may have phased out Mega Evolutions from the main series, but they still hold their value in the game. While they cannot be used in competitive PvP, Mega Evolutions are incredibly valuable for PvE content, such as raids and gym attacks. Players appreciate these Megas despite their absence from modern-day Pokemon titles.

Knowing the best Megas can help newer players decide which Pokemon to focus on collecting Mega Energy for. Here is the tier list for the best Mega Evolutions in Pokemon GO for September 2023:

The S-Tier consists of Mega Alakazam, Mega Blaziken, Mega Sceptile, the Primals (Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre), and Mega Rayquaza. These Megas have high base stats, great type combinations, and powerful movepools. For example, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre have the best Water and Ground-type moves in the game, respectively. These Megas offer unmatched damage output and should always be used by players with access to them.

The A-Tier includes Mega Beedrill, Mega Swampert, Mega Latios and Latias, and Mega Banette. While these Megas fall just short of the S-Tier, they are still great options. However, they require more strategic planning compared to S-Tier Megas. For instance, Mega Swampert is a bulky pick but has a weakness to Grass, limiting its effectiveness in certain situations. Players should consider their team composition and choose the appropriate Mega based on the raid or battle requirements.

The B-Tier is often made up of the “starting point” Megas that players obtain early in the game. This tier includes Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X, Mega Blastoise, Mega Manectric, and Mega Pidgeot. While these Megas are not the strongest, they are still better than having no Megas at all. However, they are considered basic compared to higher-tier choices, which may lead to players growing bored of using them quickly.

The C-Tier consists of Megas that were not initially strong in the main series, but were included in Pokemon GO for the sake of having all Megas available. These Megas include Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Audino, Mega Lopunny, Mega Mawile, and Mega Sableye. While these Megas fall short compared to others, players may find some niche uses for them in high-difficulty raids or as defensive anchors for their teams.

In conclusion, while there are certain Megas that excel in Pokemon GO, the most important aspect is strategy. Players should consider the raid or battle requirements and choose the appropriate Mega accordingly.
