Qualcomm Unveils New Snapdragon G Series Handheld Gaming Portfolio

Qualcomm has announced its latest lineup of Snapdragon G Series processors, designed specifically for handheld gaming devices. The Snapdragon G Series handheld gaming portfolio now consists of three tiers: G1, G2, and G3, with the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform being the newest addition.

Mithun Chandrasekhar, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm, stated that the new generation of Snapdragon G Series devices will provide gamers with the best gaming experience, allowing them to choose from a variety of gaming options including cloud gaming, console gaming, Android gaming, or PC gaming while on-the-go.

The Snapdragon G1 tier is focused on powering fanless handheld gaming devices for game streaming, whether locally or via the cloud. This tier prioritizes lag-free connectivity and long battery life, allowing players to stream their favorite console and PC games for extended periods of time. The Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 Platform, the first member of the G1 family, features a Qualcomm Kryo CPU (8 Core) paired with the Qualcomm Adreno A11 GPU, delivering high-quality handheld game-streaming capabilities.

The Snapdragon G2 tier is designed to enable full-featured mobile and cloud gaming. It features a highly optimized processor and supports cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and Wi-Fi 6/6E from Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 Mobile Connectivity System. The first product in this tier is the Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 Platform, which includes the latest Kryo CPU (8 Core), a gaming-optimized Adreno A21 GPU, and the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System.

At the flagship tier, the Snapdragon G3 is powered by the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform. Devices built on the Snapdragon G3 offer best-in-class gaming experiences across a wide range of gaming ecosystems. The Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform features a Kryo CPU (8 Core) and Adreno A32 GPU, delivering over 30% faster CPU performance and 2 times faster GPU performance compared to its predecessor.

Several companies, including AyaNeo, Huaqin, Inventec, Thundercomm, and others, are collaborating with Qualcomm to develop handheld gaming devices powered by Snapdragon G Series Platforms.

In conclusion, Qualcomm's Snapdragon G Series handheld gaming portfolio brings a new range of options for gamers, allowing them to play “console first” games on a variety of devices. With the latest processors and cutting-edge technologies, Qualcomm aims to deliver top-notch gaming experiences to gamers on-the-go.
