River City Girls 2 Adds Four-Player Online Co-op Mode

WayForward has announced a major update for River City Girls 2 with the introduction of a four-player online co-op mode. The beat 'em up game initially allowed local multiplayer with up to three friends, but now players can team up with four people online on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The update also includes patches to improve balance and performance, such as increasing the animation to 60FPS on PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC, as well as enhancing the performance on the Nintendo Switch. Combos and juggles have been adjusted for a more user-friendly experience. Players who have completed the game can continue with repeat playthroughs in New Game+ mode.

To introduce newcomers to the series, WayForward released a series trailer highlighting the River City Girls games. These games offer a unique twist on the River City Ransom story, where Misako and Kyoko must rescue their kidnapped boyfriends. In the sequel, the stakes are raised as the heroes take on the yakuza to reclaim the city. The games feature lively pixel art visuals and a sizzling soundtrack by Megan McDuffee. The overview trailer is narrated by Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin.

River City Girls 2 was released in December 2022 as a spinoff of the Kunio-kun/River City Ransom series. WayForward has carved out its own niche with this series. For those interested in diving into the River City Girls games, WayForward has introduced new digital bundles that include all three games: River City Girls, River City Girls 2, and River City Girls Zero. These bundles are available for a price of $74.99.
