Sleeping Dogs: A Classic Game That Deserves More Recognition

Sleeping Dogs, the 2012 action-adventure game, is often considered an underappreciated gem. Released for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, the game was developed by United Front Games. It originally started as a sequel to True Crime: New York City but was rebranded and acquired by Square Enix after the sequel fell through. The game follows the story of undercover cop Wei Shen as he infiltrates a deadly Triad gang in Hong Kong.

Sleeping Dogs impressed players with its gripping storyline, intense action, and stunning open-world city of Hong Kong. Despite its popularity among those who played it, a sequel to the game has never been released.

There were rumors of a potential sequel set after the events of the original game, but unfortunately, the project was canceled before it began. The closest fans got to a sequel was the remastered Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, which included all previously released DLC.

The original remaster in 2014 didn't bring significant improvements, but thanks to the backward compatibility of the Xbox Series X|S, the game now looks better than ever before. The HDR and 60fps boost offered by the console enhances the visuals, giving players a more immersive experience.

Sleeping Dogs is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, and the 2014 Definitive Edition is also backward compatible with PlayStation 5.

Despite the lack of a sequel, Sleeping Dogs has stood the test of time as a beloved game among its dedicated fan base. Its combination of compelling storytelling, adrenaline-pumping action, and immersive setting continues to captivate players even years after its initial release.
