Sony Reportedly Working on Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition

Sony appears to be developing a Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, according to a listing by the Singapore rating's board, IMDA. The listing, which has since been taken down, revealed that the edition will include the original game as well as its Burning Shores expansion. The platforms for this edition have not been specified, but given that the main game was released on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, it is expected that the Complete Edition will come to PS5. However, there is speculation regarding a potential PC release.

Horizon Forbidden West, developed by Guerrilla Games, received critical acclaim upon its release in February 2022. IGN gave it a 9/10, praising its combat, creature and character design, and open world. The Burning Shores expansion was launched in April 2023 and received an 8/10 from IGN. According to the review, it offered a satisfying continuation of the Horizon story with fresh content.

Sony has previously started porting its games to PC, with Horizon Zero Dawn being the first major first-party PS4 exclusive to make the cross over to the platform in 2020. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has stated that Sony is not currently planning to release PC versions of its exclusive games simultaneously with the console versions. Instead, they have found success in porting them over to PC a few years after the initial release. Ryan's strategy has drawn criticism from Xbox head Phil Spencer, who believes that staggered PC releases force consumers to pay for the console version and then pay again for the PC version later.

Sony has yet to comment on the Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, but an official announcement is expected soon. The release of a complete edition suggests that Sony is looking to attract new players to the game and provide an all-in-one package for fans of the Horizon series.
