Spotlight Hour: Catching the Perfect Mankey Pokémon in Pokémon Go

The popular mobile game Pokémon Go is hosting a Spotlight Hour event featuring the Pig Monkey Pokémon, Mankey. This event presents a unique opportunity for trainers to catch a 100% perfect IV Mankey, especially with the upcoming addition of its third evolution, Annihilape. While Mankey and its evolution Primeape may not be the most powerful Pokémon in the game, they still have their uses, especially in PvP battles.

In Pokémon Go, a “perfect” Pokémon refers to one with ideal Individual Values (IVs). These IVs are measured between 0 and 15 for three statistics: Attack, Defense, and Stamina. A perfect IV Pokémon would have a score of 15 in all three categories. Trainers can identify a perfect Mankey by its Combat Power (CP) alone, with the ideal CP for a level 30 Mankey being 998 and the weather-boosted CP for a level 35 Mankey being 1081.

Primeape, the evolution of Mankey, may not be the best choice for raids but performs decently in Go Battle League. With its fast attacks and move set including Counter, Night Slash, and Close Combat, Primeape can be a valuable asset in PvP battles. It excels in the Great League, defeating Pokémon such as Registeel and Alolan Sandslash. However, it struggles against Medicham and Sableye. In the Ultra League, a Level 50 Primeape can be effective against Registeel, Obstagoon, and Swampert.

As trainers participate in the Spotlight Hour event, they can also take advantage of the double catch candy bonus, which applies to all Pokémon encountered during the hour, including research rewards and raid bosses. This can help trainers gather candy twice as fast as usual.

In addition to catching a perfect Mankey, trainers can also encounter a shiny version of the Pokémon. Shiny Mankey was introduced to the game in March 2019 as part of the Battle Showdown 2019 event. Shiny Mankey has a green color variation, but its shiny evolution, Primeape, has a more subtle difference in color saturation.

The Spotlight Hour event is part of the ongoing Season of Adventures Abound in Pokémon Go. Trainers are encouraged to participate in various activities, including the Paldean Adventure special research quest, the Timed Investigation: Master Ball quest, and the Go Battle League. Additionally, the use of Daily Adventure Incense may lead to encounters with rare Pokémon such as Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres.
