Steam’s 20th Anniversary Sale Highlights Tekken 7 and Rag Doll Kung Fu

Steam, the PC gaming store and launcher created by Valve, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special sale and timeline showcasing its top releases over the years. While many popular fighting games come to mind when thinking about PC gaming, it is interesting to note that Tekken 7 and Rag Doll Kung Fu are the two titles featured in Steam's anniversary celebration.

Released in 2017, Tekken 7 has proven to be a successful fighting game, selling over 2 million copies within its first two months and reaching over 10 million copies worldwide to date. Despite the upcoming release of Tekken 8, Tekken 7 continues to have a strong community on PC, with over 4,400 concurrent users on Steam.

The second game highlighted in Steam's anniversary celebration is Rag Doll Kung Fu, developed and published by Mark Healey. This game holds a unique place in Steam's history as it was the first third-party game to be sold on the platform back in October 2005. Although it may not be considered the best fighting game, Rag Doll Kung Fu stands out for its unique control scheme and slapstick humor.

The limited presence of fighting games in Steam's anniversary timeline can be attributed to the fact that the fighting game community (FGC) only started embracing PC as a major platform relatively recently, about six or seven years ago. However, with the increasing popularity of PC gaming, it is likely that more fighting games will become prominent in the future.

As part of the 20th anniversary sale, Tekken 7 is available for $10 for the base game or $19.79 for the Definitive Edition until September 19. Rag Doll Kung Fu is also available for $0.99 for those interested in trying it out.
