The AYN Loki Zero: An Affordable Handheld Gaming PC with x86 Processor

The AYN Loki Zero is an entry-level model in the AYN Loki line of handheld gaming PCs. AYN began accepting pre-orders for the Loki Zero in July 2022, with plans to ship units by the end of the year. Although the release was delayed, the company has now started shipping the devices to customers.

The Loki Zero features a 6-inch, 1280 x 720 pixel IPS LCD display and is powered by an AMD Athlon Silver 3050e processor. It comes with 4GB of onboard DDR4-2400 memory, 64GB of eMMC storage, and a 40.5 Wh battery. The device also includes USB 3.2 Type-C and 3.5mm ports, as well as support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. It comes pre-installed with Windows 11.

While the processor may not be the most powerful, it is capable of handling older PC games, casual indie titles, and emulation of older consoles. The Loki Zero's memory and storage are user upgradable, with a SODIMM slot for additional RAM and an M.2 2230 slot for PCIe NVMe solid state drives. It also has a microSD card reader for removable storage.

The Loki Zero includes features such as active cooling with a fan, stereo speakers, motion sensors, and integrated game controllers with dual analog sticks. It is equipped with a 6-watt, 2-core, 4-thread chip with AMD Radeon Vega 3 integrated graphics.

AYN has already shipped higher-priced models in the Loki line, including the Loki and Loki Max, which feature AMD Ryzen processors. The Loki Mini Pro, with a Ryzen 3 7320U processor, is expected to be released soon.

The Loki Zero offers an affordable option for gamers looking for a portable gaming PC with an x86 processor. With its upgradable memory and storage options, it provides flexibility for users to customize their gaming experience. It may not be the most powerful device on the market, but it offers a budget-friendly option for casual gamers and those interested in retro gaming.
