The Epic Shiny Hunt: REVERSAL’s Quest for a Shiny Feebas

In the world of Pokémon games, finding a shiny Pokémon is a thrilling experience that many players strive for. These unique creatures, with their different colored appearances, have captivated the Pokémon fandom, and the hunt for shinies can be both challenging and rewarding. Among the main series games, Pokémon GO offers a relatively easier route to finding shinies. However, not all shiny hunts are created equal, and some can take years of dedication and patience.

Enter REVERSAL, a popular YouTuber who embarked on an arduous quest to find one of the rarest shiny spawns in Pokémon Sword & Shield – Feebas. Unlike most Pokémon, Feebas can only be found through fishing and in a specific location, just off of Route 2 in the Galar region. To make matters more difficult, the encounter rate for Feebas is a mere 1%. Adding to the challenge, the probability of encountering a shiny Feebas with the Shiny Charm is a staggering 1 in 1365.33.

For nearly three years, REVERSAL tirelessly fished in this one spot, encountering hundreds of thousands of Pokémon. While most of the encounters turned out to be common Magikarp and Chewtle, the sought-after Feebas remained elusive. On October 25th, 2022, REVERSAL announced that the hunt was being retired, coinciding with the release of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. However, to the surprise of fans, REVERSAL resumed the hunt on July 21st, 2023, promising to continue until the DLC was released.

Finally, on September 12th, 2023, after an astounding 236,184 fishing casts, REVERSAL achieved success. After encountering 135 shiny Magikarp and 82 shiny Chewtle during this extended period of the hunt, the rare shiny Feebas appeared. REVERSAL expressed disbelief and joy, marking the end of an incredible journey.

We salute REVERSAL for their unwavering dedication and congratulate them on their remarkable achievement in finding a shiny Feebas. This story serves as a testament to the perseverance and passion of Pokémon trainers in the quest for these prized creatures.
