The Khadas Mind: A Compact Modular Mini-PC

The Khadas Mind, a concept introduced in July, has now become a reality as the company has launched a Kickstarter campaign and plans to ship some of the modules later this year. This innovative mini-PC offers the ability to expand its functionalities through modular components.

The compact design of the Khadas Mind measures 146 x 105 x 20 mm and weighs 450 g. It is equipped with either a Core i5-1340P or Core i7-1360P processor, 16-32 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD. Additionally, it features Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, USB 3.2 Gen2 (x2), HDMI 2.0, RJ45, USB-C (x2), and an SD card slot. To connect the modules, the mini-PC utilizes a proprietary Mind Link connector. It also includes a 5.55 Wh battery for hot-swapping modules.

During the crowdfunding campaign, the Khadas Mind is priced at $600 or $800, depending on the chosen configuration. Once the product hits retail, prices will range from $800 to $1,100. The base module, called the Mind Dock, expands the port selection and incorporates a physical volume control.

One of the modules available for the Khadas Mind is the Mind Graphics, which is an external graphics card featuring an RTX 4060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM. This module includes its own set of ports and built-in speakers. The mini-PC with the docking station is priced at $930, while the kit with the graphics card starts at $1,500.

Another anticipated module is the Mind xPlay, which transforms the mini-PC into a laptop with a screen, keyboard, and stand. However, there are currently no specifics available about this module, and it is missing from the project's roadmap. It appears that the Mind xPlay is still in the planning phase, along with the Mind Studio Display monitor.

Overall, the Khadas Mind offers a unique and versatile solution for users looking for a compact mini-PC with expandable capabilities. With its modular design, it provides flexibility to tailor the device according to individual needs and preferences.
