Indie developer Free Range Games and publisher North Beach Games are set to release their co-op survival crafting game, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, on October 24th for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store, according to an exclusive reveal by IGN. The game will be digitally available on the PS5, with a physical release planned for December 5th. The release for Xbox Series X/S is slated for early 2024, although an exact date has not yet been specified.
Return to Moria focuses on the Dwarves of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world and their quest to reclaim and restore their homeland during the Fourth Age of Middle-earth. Players will have the opportunity to create their own custom Dwarf character and venture into the Mines of Moria alone or with other players online.
The game's survival crafting aspect will emphasize the Dwarves' inventive nature, particularly as they explore the Mines of Moria. Known for its production of the resilient mineral mithril, the Dwarves will need to craft armors and weapons capable of protecting against a variety of foes lurking within the mine, such as goblins, arachnoids, and other mysterious creatures.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria release date announcement is the latest piece of information shared by Free Range Games and North Beach Games. Earlier, a story trailer was unveiled during the Summer Game Fest, alongside the announcement of a fall debut.
