The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs RTX 4080: A Comparison

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 are popular GPUs for gamers looking for high-resolution gaming experiences. Priced at $799 and $1,199 respectively, they fall within the mid-range to high-end price range.

To determine if the RTX 4080 is worth the additional $200 compared to the RTX 4070 Ti, we conducted a series of high-resolution gaming benchmarks. We also included ray-tracing tests to gauge the performance of newer titles.

When it comes to 1440p benchmarks, which is the most popular resolution among gamers, the RTX 4080 consistently outperforms the RTX 4070 Ti. In games like “A Plague Tale” and “Cyberpunk 2077,” the RTX 4080 showcased a lead of around 31% in average FPS compared to the RTX 4070 Ti. Meanwhile, in games like “Assassins' Creed Valhalla” and “Dying Light 2,” the performance gap between the two GPUs was around 14-22%.

Other games like “F1 2022,” “Ghostwire Tokyo,” “Hitman 3,” and “Hogwarts Legacy” showed smaller performance differences, ranging from less than 10% to around 18%. However, it's worth noting that “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” experienced a CPU bottleneck, limiting the performance of both GPUs to around 200 FPS at 1440p.

In terms of ray-tracing performance, both the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 delivered impressive results, demonstrating their capability to handle ray-traced effects in games like “The Callisto Protocol” and “Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.”

Based on these benchmarks, it's clear that the RTX 4080 offers a noticeable performance boost over the RTX 4070 Ti in most games at 1440p resolution. However, it's important to consider your budget and gaming requirements before making a decision on which GPU to purchase.
