The Release of Cities: Skylines 2 for Consoles Delayed

The highly anticipated sequel to the popular city simulation game, Cities: Skylines, has been met with a delay for its console release. Developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive recently announced that Cities: Skylines 2 will not be released as planned on October 24th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Instead, the console versions of the game are now expected to launch in spring 2024.

The decision to delay the console release was made in order to meet the quality standards set by the developers. In a statement, both Colossal Order and Paradox expressed their commitment to delivering a high-quality experience on all platforms. The additional time will allow them to focus on ensuring that the game achieves the desired level of performance and visual realism.

Console pre-orders for Cities: Skylines 2 are being automatically refunded, according to Paradox's FAQ page. Digital pre-orders will also be handled automatically. However, those who have placed physical pre-orders are advised to contact their retailer to ensure they receive a refund.

Cities: Skylines 2 promises to offer players an even more immersive city-building experience. In addition to improved visuals, the game will feature fully-realized transport and economy systems. Players will face challenges such as pollution, changing weather conditions, and seasonal variations.

While the delay may disappoint fans who were eagerly awaiting the game's release, it is ultimately a positive step towards delivering a polished and enjoyable gaming experience. With the extra time and dedication from the developers, Cities: Skylines 2 has the potential to surpass its predecessor and become a must-play title for city simulation enthusiasts.
