Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR Launch for Meta Quest Devices

Ubisoft has confirmed the release date for Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, the highly anticipated virtual reality game set in the Assassin's Creed universe. The game will be available for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro on 16 November 2023. In a new gameplay trailer, Ubisoft has provided more details about the “first AAA VR title” in the long-running Assassin's Creed franchise.

In Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, players will have the opportunity to step into the shoes of three iconic characters from the series: Ezio Auditore, Kassandra, and Connor. Each character's storyline will intertwine as players travel through their memories to uncover the secrets behind the villainous organization Abstergo's latest scheme.

The trailer hints at a plot where Abstergo is attempting to control the world, and players must defend “free will” by navigating the memories of these master assassins. The game will take players on historical adventures, such as exploring the American Revolution as Connor, wielding a bow and arrow in Ancient Greece as Kassandra, and deploying the hidden blade in Renaissance Italy as Ezio.

One notable addition to Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is the inclusion of modern-day segments, a feature absent from recent Assassin's Creed games. Players will interact with Dominika Wilk, a cyber-security leader played by actor Morena Baccarin, in their quest to overthrow Abstergo's rule.

The game boasts a variety of features to enhance immersion. Players will have access to an arsenal of weapons, including bows and arrows, swords, throwing knives, the tomahawk, the crossbow, the hidden blade, and bombs. They will also be able to explore iconic historical cities like Venice, Athens, and Colonial Boston. The game offers 360-degree navigation, allowing players to climb and parkour freely. NPCs and historical figures will react to the player's actions, making the experience more realistic. Stealth gameplay is also emphasized, with players being able to perform air assassinations or blend into crowds.

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is one of several new Assassin's Creed games set to launch in 2023, including Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Codename Jade. Assassin's Creed Mirage will follow the assassin Basim as he navigates the world of assassins and embraces a mystical destiny. Assassin's Creed Codename Jade is a mobile game that takes players through Ancient China.

With its immersive gameplay and the opportunity to experience the Assassin's Creed universe in virtual reality, Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is an exciting addition to the franchise. Players can look forward to embarking on thrilling historical adventures and uncovering the secrets of Abstergo when the game launches on 16 November 2023 for Meta Quest devices.
