Ubisoft has announced the launch of Assassin's Creed Nexus, a brand-new virtual reality (VR) game for VR headsets. This full-length Assassin's Creed title will be available on Meta's Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro VR headsets starting November 16th, allowing players to experience the game in a first-person perspective.
Assassin's Creed Nexus VR is the first installment in the Assassin's Creed series to be played in a first-person view. Players will have the opportunity to embody popular characters such as Ezio Auditore, Connor, and Kassandra, and explore their unique stories set in Ancient Greece, the Renaissance, and the American Revolution.
Each era within the game is designed to feel distinct, with every character wielding different weapons and existing in a different historical period. The narrative of the game is intertwined with a modern-day storyline, where players must thwart an Abstergo plot that seeks to manipulate people's beliefs using ancient technology.
In this action-adventure game, players can engage in thrilling parkour, exhilarating combat, and tense stealth sequences as they immerse themselves in the role of the Assassin. As they progress, players will unlock new memories from Ezio Auditore, Kassandra, and Connor, all while working to prevent Abstergo from obtaining the power to control people's beliefs.
While Ubisoft has not yet revealed the pricing for Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, the game is listed as “comfortable” on the Quest games store and is compatible with Meta Quest 2 and newer VR headsets. Visually, the game may not have the same level of graphical fidelity as recent Assassin's Creed titles due to the optimization requirements for VR hardware.
It is still unclear what specific enhancements will be featured in the Meta Quest 3 version of the game compared to the Meta Quest 2 version. However, players can expect improved visuals, potentially including higher resolution gameplay and smoother framerates on the Quest 3.
Assassin's Creed Nexus VR offers players all the iconic gameplay elements from the series, including the iconic Leap of Faith. Participants will have the freedom to choose their approach to missions and navigate open maps in an unforgettable campaign.
