Unboxing the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan

In this article, we take a closer look at the box packaging and appearance of the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan graphics card. The box contains the GPU and an installation guide, along with a Slev.30 ATX 24-pin braided connector as a freebie. The design of the cooler is the same as the previous model, the XLR8 RTX 4060 Ti, with the card measuring 305 x 119 x 40mm.

The top side of the card features an 8-pin connector in the middle, while the bottom side has a clean look. The backplate of the card hides the MLCCs (capacitors behind the GPU die) and allows for flow-through cooling for the third fan. The I/O layout consists of three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and a single HDMI 2.1 output, which can deliver high refresh rate 4K resolutions.

This card also features RGB lighting with two zones: one at the front in an “X” pattern and another at the top illuminating the “XLR8” logo. These lighting zones can be customized using the VelocityX VERTO app.

As for the specifications, the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan is powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU core with 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM. It has a base/boost clock of 1920/2520 MHz and a TDP of 200W. The card requires a recommended PSU of 650W and uses a PCIe 8-pin connector for power.

In terms of performance, the XLR8 RTX 4070 performs well in both 4K and 1440p gaming, closely matching the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti in most cases. The thermals of the card are also impressive, with the GPU core temperature staying at just 68°C during stress tests.

Overall, the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan is a powerful and well-designed graphics card that delivers excellent performance and efficient cooling.
