Wandjina: A New 5-Star Foreigner Servant in Fate/Grand Order

During Kyomafu 2023, Lasengle unveiled the highly anticipated art for an upcoming Servant in Fate/Grand Order named Wandjina. Wandjina is a 5-star Foreigner Servant and will be available for a limited time. Not only will she be a highly sought-after Servant, but she will also take center stage as the main character of the Wandjina World Tour event, which is set to kick off on September 20, 2023.

To participate in the Wandjina World Tour event, players must first complete the Fuyuki storyline. However, it is important to note that the event's story will contain spoilers for both Lostbelt 6 (Avalon le Fae) and Tunguska Sanctuary. Players will have the opportunity to interact with and receive event bonuses from other Servants such as Kriemhild, Santa Altera, Voyager, and Rasputin, who will play vital roles in the Wandjina World Tour story.

Wandjina is not a new character in the Fate/Grand Order universe. She previously appeared as a non-playable character (NPC) but will now make her debut as a playable Servant. However, the announcement of Wandjina's appearance in the gacha has sparked discussions online regarding her portrayal. In Australian Aboriginal mythology, Wandjina are known as cloud and rain spirits. Some feel that the artist, Lasengle, may not have obtained the necessary permissions to depict Wandjina in the game, as there are legal procedures involved in using the depiction of Wandjina.

Despite this controversy, there are varying opinions on the matter. Some argue that Wandjina is a representation of aboriginal groups in Australia and that copyright laws pertaining to Wandjina are only effective within the country. Others speculate that Lasengle may not be aware of the cultural taboo surrounding the depiction of Wandjina due to a lack of Japanese resources about the Mowanjum Community, to which Wandjina is connected.

In light of these discussions, it is possible that Lasengle may reveal that the character in the game is not actually Wandjina but another Servant using her name. If this is the case, it could potentially alleviate the concerns surrounding the portrayal.

Fans of Fate/Grand Order can look forward to the release of Wandjina as a playable character on September 20, 2023, along with the exciting Wandjina World Tour event.
