Wilds of Eldraine Cards Impacting Formats Beyond Standard

The release of Wilds of Eldraine has brought a plethora of powerful cards that are making waves in various Magic: The Gathering formats. While Standard has seen significant changes, formats like Pioneer, Modern, and Legacy have also been heavily impacted. These upgrades have added new strategies and improved existing archetypes.

In Pioneer, Izzet Phoenix took first place in the Magic Online Pioneer Challenge, showcasing the power of Sleight of Hand. This cantrip improves the deck's consistency and enables the casting of multiple spells in a turn to return Arclight Phoenix from the graveyard to play. Another archetype, Boros Heroic, made top eight with the addition of Monstrous Rage. This one-mana spell provides a significant buff to creatures and trample, strengthening the deck's matchup against less interactive decks. Additionally, Blossoming Tortoise has found its way into mono-green Devotion decks, helping with ramp and finding Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

In Modern, four-color Omnath decks have been utilizing Up the Beanstalk to great effect. This card draws cards and synergizes with spells that cost five or more mana, enhancing the deck's consistency. Yawgmoth, Thran Physician combo decks have also experienced success with Agatha's Soul Cauldron. This combo with Young Wolf, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Yawgmoth creates a strong synergy and has proven to be a winning strategy.

Even in Legacy, Wilds of Eldraine cards are making a splash. Beseech the Mirror has been a key addition in mono-black decks utilizing the Helm of Obedience combo. By tutoring for Helm or other powerful four-drops, Beseech the Mirror increases the deck's consistency and versatility. It has also been used in an all-in combo deck to search for and cast Gaea's Will, enabling explosive plays with the right setup.

The impact of Wilds of Eldraine beyond Standard highlights the strength and versatility of the set. Players in various formats are finding new strategies and upgrading existing decks with these powerful cards.
