XBOX 360 Store to Close: What Does This Mean for Gamers?

XBOX recently made a massive announcement that will have a significant impact on its global player base. Starting from July of next year, people will no longer be able to purchase hundreds of games from the Xbox 360 store. This news has left many players concerned about the future of their favorite games.

The Xbox 360, a popular gaming console, is nearing the end of its lifecycle. As a result, Xbox has decided to close down the Xbox 360 store, which means that exclusive games available on this platform will also disappear. More than 200 digital-only Xbox 360 games will be affected by this shutdown, making them no longer available for purchase.

However, Xbox is ensuring that many of these games will still be accessible through backward compatibility for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Backward compatibility allows players to enjoy games from previous console generations on newer hardware. This will come as a relief to players who want to continue enjoying their favorite Xbox 360 titles.

Unfortunately, not all games will be available through backward compatibility. Some highly-rated games will disappear from the Xbox platform completely. While some of these games can be found on other platforms or legacy consoles, they may be hard to come by on the second-hand market.

For example, the rhythm game Space Channel 5: Part 2 was never released physically in the West, forcing fans to purchase it digitally. After the closure of the Xbox 360 store, the game will still be available to purchase on platforms like Steam. Dustforce, a popular indie platformer, will no longer be available on Xbox, along with several older games from well-known series like Street Fighter, YuGiOh!, Batman, Worms, and South Park.

If you're an Xbox 360 player, now is the time to grab these games before they disappear forever. Here are the top 10 games you should consider purchasing before the closure:

1. Space Channel 5: Part 2
2. Dustforce
3. Street Fighter 3 Online
4. YuGiOh! Millennium Duels
5. South Park Tenorman’s Revenge
6. Rez HD
7. Ecco the Dolphin
8. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
9. Worms
10. State of Decay

While the closure of the Xbox 360 store may be disappointing for some players, it's important to remember that the gaming industry constantly evolves. New consoles and platforms bring fresh experiences, and there are still plenty of exciting games to look forward to on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and other gaming systems.
