Valve Announces CS2’s Release Date is Approaching

Valve has finally confirmed that the highly anticipated game, CS2, will be coming out “soon.” After months of speculation and leaks from CS2 fans, Valve made the announcement on September 13. This is the first time the company has provided any information about the release date of CS2 since March 22, when it was announced that the game would be released in the summer of 2023.

The announcement of CS2's impending release was made through Steam's 20th birthday page, where Valve shared their achievements in 2023 so far. In addition to CS2 entering beta and launching soon, Valve mentioned that they have released a significant Steam Client update and that there are now over 11,000 verified or playable titles on Steam Deck.

While CS:GO has had a successful 11-year run, its life cycle is coming to an end. Valve has been actively preparing for the release of CS2 with recent updates and changes to CS:GO. On August 31, the developer introduced a new competitive mode called Premier, featuring a unique rating system and global, regional, and friends' leaderboards. Furthermore, all maps in CS:GO's Active Duty map pool have already been adjusted for CS2, allowing players to ban-and-pick maps when queuing for Premier.

Although the exact release date of CS2 remains unknown, some fans are hopeful that the game will be launched before September 23, coinciding with the end of summer in the United States. It is worth noting that Valve's headquarters is located in Seattle.

As the release of CS2 draws near, it's time for CS:GO players to start preparing for the transition to the new game. Despite CS2 still needing polish and fixes, excitement is building among the community for what Valve has in store for this highly anticipated sequel.
